I've always seen problems as puzzles waiting to be solved, and I'm grateful to have spent 30 years in a profession that pays me to do exactly that.

Every employer I worked for gave me something rare — a front-row seat to the real problems real institutions grapple with every day, alongside some of the most gifted people I've ever met. I'm grateful to every one of them. I rose to R&D Director building the risk, governance, and compliance platforms that some of the largest banks and insurers run on. And I learned, from mentors who took the time, that a good journey isn't just about technology. It's about judgment, relationships, and knowing when to listen.

I want to build software with joy as a primary ingredient. The joy a user feels when the software has their back. And the joy a developer feels building a system that carries no unnecessary burden. Simpler is easier to understand, and what people understand, they own and take part in. You can spot unnecessary complexity and over-engineering by simply looking at what it takes a new developer to set up their environment.

As a founder, I like building software that creates value — software that saves you money, helps you decide better, and lets your people move on an idea the day they have it.

If there is one thing I want this company known for, it is authenticity and integrity. In practice, that means straight talk. When we can do something, I will tell you plainly what it costs and how long it will take. When we cannot, I will say no — early, and not after you have spent your money. No numbers that leave out the part that matters. No discovering the real price in the third meeting. No games. It is how I would want to be treated, and I have sat on the other side of enough of these conversations to know how rarely it happens.

That is why I started Subtract Software: so you can pour yourself into the thing you are best at and never once worry about the software underneath you.
